Thank you for sharing this. It feels both starkly sad and somehow deeply hopeful. The image of strangers gathering for people whose names aren’t even listed yet reminds me how connected we really are, whether or not we recognise it in daily life. It’s good to be reminded that, with all our day-to-day busyness, a person can still pause and pay respects to someone they never knew. It reminds me that some of the most meaningful gestures are the simple ones, like placing a flower or standing quietly by a mass grave, just to say: “You existed. You mattered.”

It's one of those occasions that seem intrinsically painful, yet are actually life-affirming. If nothing else, it makes you pay more attention to the people you pass in the street. We're all in this together. Thank you for reading.
